Club Captains Away Weekend At Celtic Manor
Ten members went away to Celtic Manor on the 19th and 20th of March. On the first day 18 holes were played on the Montgomerie course, the leader in the clubhouse after day one was Nick Laing with a score of 39 points finishing in the dark after five and a quarter hours play.
Back to the resort a good evening was had by all. Colin was up to his usual tricks. The evening finished with torrential rain, typical Celtic Manor weather!
Day two, most were up 'bright eyed and bushy tailed' for 18 holes on the Roman Road course. After another five hours of gruelling golf, the eventual winner of the prestigious playing away cup was Simon Alderwick with a two day final score of 58 points, runner up Steve Butterfield with 55 and in third place Nick Laing 54 points.
St Margret's Hospice benefited from F.A.F. cottage raising only £20 as a limit was placed on the fines, but that didn't say that there were not numerous fines!
A brilliant couple of days were had by all and we have been invited back! If you would like a chance at winning this trophy, we are hoping to organise another away day in September, all are welcome.
